Classification of Forests on the Basis of Forest Department

Under Haryana Forest Department, the forests of the state have been classified into three categories:

1. The State Forests These are the forest areas Over which the government has full control.

2. Community Forests These are the forest areas that are under the authority of local bodies such as District Council, Municipality and Nagar Panchayat, etc.

3. Private Forests These are the forest areas over which individuals have rights, i.e. they are under the control of the people.
